Installation Notes
I selected the Red lettering
to go with my Black car and interior. I think the combination looks
GREAT!
You will need a GOOD
pair of tweezers, an Exacto knife, a hair dryer, steady hands (so no drinking
the night before), Q-Tips and some cleaning alcohol.
The instructions that
Vette Additions provide are pretty adequate. Here are some tips based
on my installation efforts.
-
In all areas of installation,
make sure that the surface is clean and free from wax, oils, dust, etc.
-
When installing the wheel
cap and steering wheel decals, make sure you trim them as close as possible
to the tips of the flags. Alignment is critical and your ability
to see where the tips of the flags will go is the key. It is also
critical to lay the decal down smoothly from one edge to the opposite to
ensure that there are no air bubbles in the final installation. Use
a Q-Tip to work out any bubbles and press the decal down onto the surface.
-
I found that the decal covering
came off way too easily so I was working with the exposed decals.
This is not a problem if you keep yourself and the work area clean and
dust free.
-
The individual letters take
some time and patience to install correctly. The passenger side air
bag letters are a bit difficult to align because of the somewhat cramped
work area. Just take your time. The results are well worth
it.
-
For the rear letters, I found
a comfortable stool to sit on while I did the work. A towel across
the rear deck makes a good storage area for tools and the letters.
The front letters can be installed anywhere - just take the license plate
cover off, find a comfortable work area and do it.
Appearance
-
To keep the decals looking
great - don't take a brush to them and do not use any alcohol on them.
A little care when cleaning and waxing will ensure that they are not disturbed.
The decals should stay looking great. The only problem Vette Additions
said they had was with one customer who used simple green to clean his
wheels three to four times a week. The decals faded on his car.
