Take a look at the stock "H" pipe, notice
the size of the hole (it's about 3.4") compared to the X pipe design------> 
My initial impression after installation was that the sound of the car is much more mellow.  My exhaust is basically stratight through with little in the way of mufflers (click HERE to see the modifications).  The popping is much less and the sound is less rowdy.
