Creative Commands Corporation's Handy Touch Remote Garage Door Opener

$89.00

If you are tired of those bulky garage door openers and you don't smoke, this may be just the ticket. The Handy Touch is about the size of a car cigarette lighter. In fact, that's where it fits in your C5. It is hidden behind the door covering the lighter and ashtray, which makes for a clean installation and removes the temptation for someone to steal it from the visor if your top is off or down. The unit offers an integrated look, requires no batteries and seems pretty tough.

As you can see from this nearly actual size picture, the unit is small and well designed. The Handy-Touch system also offers you high security through its unique code-rolling chip, which automatically selects from billions of possible codes and changes the operating code randomly every time the system is used, preventing "code-grabbers" from gaining access.

Because Handy-Touch operates at 910 MHz, a special matching receiver needs to be installed to your current garage door opener. Installation of the receiver unit takes only about 10 minutes. Handy-Touch claims the unit has an effective range of up to 150 feet but mine seems good for only about 50. This could be due to a number of factors, but since that's all the farther my other units work, I don't care.

Here is the installed receiver and it's power supply, Another view of the receiver to show orientation with the opener This image shows the connection to the opener unit As you can see, it makes a very neat installation.

The installation of the receiver unit is simple and requires only the usual tools we all have in the garage. It basically acts as another switch in the line from the wall switch you currently have. It is connected in parallel with that switch - usually at the opener mechanism. Most will have screw terminals so the installation requires no wire cutting or splicing.  The unit comes with simple, easy to follow instructions and diagrams.
