Chris
Barr’s Cabin, located outside of Manhattan, Kansas on the way to
Pillsbury Crossing, was built in 1863. Later it was later
incorporated as a
part of a larger house. The cabin was discovered in 1962 when the house
was torn down. In 1992, the Zeandale Senior Citizens group refurbished
the
cabin into its current state.
The kittens were at my step-son's house and have never been to the cabin as far as we know. |

| One
of the way-cool and interesting things about Kansas (and most of the
midwest, for that matter) is the clouds. Here are some
images that I captured. |

| Pillsbury Crossing is a natural limestone slab that was used by pioneers to cross Deep Creek. The ledge terminates in a waterfall in Riley County, Kansas,
USA. The waterfall is about 40 feet (12 m) wide and has a drop of
around 5 feet (1.5 m). Below Pillsbury Crossing, Deep Creek flows into
the Kansas River.
The waterfall is named for Josiah Pillsbury. |

Konza Prairie - Most of Konza was once a part of the Dewey Cattle Ranch. In the 1970's,
the Nature Conservancy purchased the property, over 13 square miles. It is managed
by Kansas State University to be used as a research natural area to study the tallgrass
prairie ecosystem. a public nature trail takes visitors on a scenic hike
across the virgin tallgrass prairie and atop the limestone-capped hills overlooking the
property.

| As
usual here is a mixed bag of stuff including a yawning lion, radio
tower, some really interesting mammatus clouds, orchids, some
headstones from Pleasant Vally Cemetery and a couple glorious sunrise
shots. | | |
